Unit One Reflection

Over the past unit we have introduced many new materials into our english class. Some of these being our Weebly website journals, group work, and all together a new system of assignments and classes so that now instead of going week by week we go by units as we just finished our first unit: Unit One.

Even though this Unit only lasted a couple of weeks we got a lot of work done and accomplished a lot during it including figuring out where we want the rest of our term and eventually year to go.

Over the unit we spent much of our time working on our portfolios which is a rather new thing to us. Each of us students has a website set up through Weebly which will serve as a portfolio for any writings poems or any literature we want to put up as well as other media: podcasts, pictures, and whatever we are passionate about. This is my favorite thing we have done all year mostly because you can express yourself with such extent using it but also because our websites have potential. We all have the option to keep working with this website throughout our life and to fill our websites with amazing things. Although I question how many students will do so, I know that a few will and as we grow as people and writers our websites will grow too.

We also did a lot of work with the book The Odyssey whether it be reading, Listening or even writing a group reflection. We have done many reflections on different books of The Odyssey and this very much helps me and other students become better writers. Our work with The Odyssey has also helped us get better at analyzing literature as it is a very complicated story.

All together our work this term has both helped us become better writers and has helped us figure out what our goals are for the rest of the year.

MLK

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

Today we get together to celebrate a man. But he was no ordinary man. He was a man who made a huge impact on the world we live in today. He was a man who had a vision, a dream. A man who pushed and sacrificed his life to make his dream come true. But his dream was not for the benifits of himself. His dream was for the benefits of his nation. He was not just a man but an inspiration who will never be forgotten.

Spring

Spring time is here
The holidays have past and so has the New Year
Now all the snow has melted and the sky is clear
Weather predictions that make you want to shout and cheer
Summer time seems so near
With Skies of bright golden yellow
Winter has past and now it feels so mellow
The sweet church bells start to bellow
And so bright weather will finally begin
The birds will come out and sing
The sweet melodies of spring
